The UEi DL589 HVAC clamp meter will measure capacitance, voltage, microamps, circuit continuity, resistance, diode, and temperature via K-type thermocouples. The UEi DL500 series clamp meter comes with different features.
The UEi DL589 delivers high-performance features and ease of use. The 1.25 fixed jaw clamp meter measures AC current and DC current to 600 A and has NCV detection for high voltage alerts. Measurements are easily read on the UEi DL589 backlit, high-contrast, dual display. The top reading on the display is amperage as measured by the clamp. The bottom reading can be voltage, resistance, microamps, or capacitance. Functions are easily selected using the rotary selector dial. The UEi DL589 is a True RMS meter for accurate voltage measurements in noisy environments and also features a Low Impedance (Low Z) mode for identifying and eliminating ghost or stray voltages. Without these features, the meter would provide erroneous readings when measuring voltage and currents.
The DL589 clamp meter offers HVAC/R technicians a temperature range of -328 to 2462°F, capacitance measurements to check the start and run motor capacitors, and DC Microamps for testing flame sensors ensuring the furnace is running correctly and safely. A broken sensor in a gas appliance will prevent the safety valve from opening, hindering the appliance from working properly. Duty cycle and LRA Inrush current tests are also included on the Clamp meter DL589. The Inrush current is important to measure to verify that the motor is receiving the required Inrush current to support proper motor starts. In addition, the DL589 features auto-ranging to automatically determine the most appropriate measurement range for the test being conducted. The HVAC/R clamp meter includes a built-in magnet with a hanging strap, work light, and auto power off to conserve battery life. The UEi DL589 can be NIST calibrated.
