The Dungeness crab shell durometer accurately measures the indentation hardness of the Dungeness crab shell. It can be used to determine if a population of crabs has matured enough such that the soft-shelled population is small enough to warrant a fishery. Developed with the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game.
