This general purpose penetration Pt100 probe is designed for use with one of Hanna's Pt100 thermometers. The pointed tip of the probe is sharp to allow users to obtain highly accurate temperature readings of semi-solid and liquid samples. A cable extends 1 m (3.3') from the handle to the meter connection.

The operating principle behind resistance thermometers is based on an increase of electric resistance of metal conductors (RTD: Resistance Temperature Detectors) with temperature. Hanna's Pt100 probes and thermometers use multi-wire technology in their cables to obtain high levels of accuracy. The HI768L probe uses a strong, corrosion-resistant, AISI 316 stainless steel construction, allowing it to measure samples up to 622°F (350°C).
