The Trend Networks / Ideal VFF5 is a pen-type visual fault locator that projects a highly visible red light into a fiber optic cable. Sharp bends, breaks, faulty connectors, and other faults will leak red light allowing a technician to visually spot any defects. The Trend Network / Ideal VFF5 visual fault finder is also an excellent aide to technicians terminating mechanical splices or internal splice style connectors where leaking light is an indicator of a poor fiber cleave or other misalignments. The visual fault finder can be used as a stand-alone first-line basic troubleshooting tool or in conjunction with an OTDR to pinpoint faults. Any break will be seen as a conspicuously glowing or blinking red light area (in 3 mm or smaller cables). The Trend Network VFF5 is equipped with a high-power, daylight visible 650nm laser diode which operates either in continuous or flashing mode. The push-button design prevents battery drain due to accidental activation of the tool while inside a tool pouch.
The Ideal VFF5 visual fault locator is operated by two AA batteries that provide over 30 hours of operation in continuous mode and 80 hours of operation in flashing mode. The pocket-size Trend VFF5 fiber optic visual fault finder has rugged metal housing with a protective Santoprene over-sleeve and a non-roll design. The fiber optic visual fault finder is fitted with 2.5 mm universal connectors that accept ST, SC, and FC optical connectors.
