The Guard and Interconnecting Lead and Strap (GILS) kit is an accessory that can be utilised to make all the guard connections required when testing an asset. Using the guard terminal is crucial for getting a reliable result, making all of the necessary connections requires a method of making a 360° contact with bushing surfaces to block all of the surface leakage current. Quite often, pieces of bare wire are used, however this is time consuming and does not guarantee a good contact with bushing surfaces.
