The device senses the electric field around an energized conductor using capacitive coupling. When voltage is present, the detector picks up the field then alerts the user via visual, audible and vibration alerts. No direct contact with the wire is needed—just bring the tip close. The built-in flashlight is a practical safety feature in that it illuminates dark panels, crawl spaces, or ceilings; helps identify wire colors and labels clearly; and reduces mistakes when working in low-light environments.
