The IRP-1 helps improve worker safety by allowing technicians to survey switchgear and other enclosed equipment that carries the risk of arc flash without the need to open the cabinet, thereby greatly reducing the risk of arc flash injury. As a result, they can execute predictive maintenance inspections more efficiently, reducing the time required to put on and take off heavy arc-flash PPE, remove and replace electrical panels, and adjust thermal camera settings to account for IR window transmission.
These lens-free ports require no input of transmission factor or window temperature, which simplifies the inspection process. Together with the 80° lens, this inspection port provides by far the largest field of view, which gets as much equipment as possible into the same image, improving context and understanding of issues, which leads to better maintenance decisions being made.
